	Union-Metal (Hong Kong) is successfully working with abas Business Solution

	HONG KONG/ Karlsruhe, July 10, 2008 - Since two years Union Metal Products has been working successfully with the abas Business Solution. The following improvements have been realized: Full automation in sales, purchasing and financial management, multi-level bills of material (BOM). The flexibility of the abas system makes it possible to adapt to the various changes.

	Union-Metal partner of Swarovski
	Founded in 1971, Union-Metal is a certified partner of Swarovski, the world-famous crystal manufacturer, and has specialized in the production and sales of various metal and crystal ware. In 2006, since the limited functions of the existing computer system couldn’t satisfy the requirements of the rapid business development anymore, Union-Metal decided to upgrade it to a more powerful ERP system.

	Evaluation
	System function and cost benefit were the two most important factors that were taken into consideration by Union-Metal when selecting a new system. It was expected that the new system would help optimizing the management flow and improve the operation efficiency. Introduced by a professor from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, abas Business Software became known to Union-Metal. After a circumspect evaluation, abas Business Software was found to meet the company’s requirements completely. Alison Luk, the General Manager of Union-Metal, said: “Due to the powerful functions of the abas system and a price within our budget, we have a high cost benefit ratio."

	Implementation
	After six months of system implementation, the abas ERP system went live successfully in early 2007. Mainly used in sales management, purchasing management, warehouse management, financial management and cost control, it optimizes the business process and improves the operation efficiency at Union-Metal.

	Optimization
	Firstly, data management is optimized. For example, multi-level bills of material (BOM) with detailed and accurate data can be created in the abas system and thus help to achive an accurate product and material management. This facilitates searching and operation easy and assures the data availability in the business processes. In the old system only simple BOM could be created, which brought inconvenience to jobs. Secondly, the business process is optimized, and the work efficiency is improved. Full automation in sales, purchasing and financial management is realized. For example, purchase order suggestions can be generated automatically after system scheduling is transferred into purchase orders directly by purchase officers. This simplifies the procedures and quickens the work progress. Luk said: "We issue orders faster since we have been using the abas system, which improves the work efficiency." Finally, the high flexibility of the abas system makes it possible to adapt to the various changes in SMEs and provides vast expansibility to companies. Union-Metal is given a good system platform for its continuous and long-term development.
